Anime review: Silent Möbius (1998)

Another month, another club watch. But clearly not on the same level as August, this time. The person who proposed it didn't know what to expect either, in his defense.
I won't expand too much because it ended up being very forgettable and flawed, and I'd feel bad dunking on it for too long.
The main issues were:
- The asspulls, always present but which grew very bold towards the end.
- The animation budget that slowly went from low to
let's all skip lunch to pay for today's episode, guys
. - Some pretty bad VAs, especially on the baddies' side.
- The lack of direction: enemies were never really a threat, lots of things going on that were
barely developed (the private police funding/corruption, the crazy underworld, the cyberpunk/Tron
tech setup, etc…) and the
I want to look 2deep4u like Eva, have some Akira and Gunbuster episodes, a lot of Blade Runner and some Slayers SoL too! Will it blend?
- Too many primary characters that got treated like secondaries past their development episode(s).
These two first problems largely compounded by the length of 26 episodes, really.
Are there some good points, though? Yes! The hilariously high chuuni level remained entertaining 'till the end, the artistic direction was pretty cool (showing that at least some people cared while making it) and the SoL parts were often good.
…but really too all over the place to warrant more than 6.
