Anime review: Spriggan (1998)

Just watched this tonight. I'll make it quick: someone thought hey, what if we took Laputa style ancient alien tech, Akira's ESPer kids and some kind of super-soldier experiment then made it into a manga then a movie? Armed with these themes, the Rule of Cool as sole/absolute guide and copious amounts of quality animation plus funky CGI, they gave us Spriggan.

"Plot", wuzzat? Something you eat? "Characters"? Yeah, there are some. Shut up and behold this eye-candy and fluid action!

To be honest, that kind of contrast between animation quality and total disjointedness is something I usually expect from late 80s OAVs like Cyber City Oedo 808 or Angel Cop, not a '98 movie…

Well, I was entertained, at least! Mainly because they didn't leave me enough time to get bored.
