Movie review: M (1931)

Another cinema classic enjoyed this early afternoon. Probably the earliest movie I've ever seen.
For anyone who thinks that playacting and cinematography are key ingredients to making good movies, this is obviously good. "Obviously" because at the time, you didn't have good special effects, incredible filming tools or even soundtrack to compensate!
And M truly shines despite that… but even then, the absence of music made me realize how important it is and how much I've been taking it for granted all this time. Because I'm almost sure the few scenes that seemed too long in those 1h40 would have been much more palatable with some sound.
It probably deserves a 9 if only for Beckert's ending speech, but the lack of soundtrack (both music and ambient sounds) really hindered it during some scenes.
